Casa Roca

01
Context
Casa Roca is a private residence carved into a rocky Mediterranean hillside, its grey granite volumes stepping down the slope in a composition that reads more geological than architectural. The house emerges from the landscape rather than sitting upon it — its retaining walls, terraces, and cantilevers all extensions of the natural rock formations that define the site. From across the valley, the building is almost invisible.
02
Visual Direction
The living spaces face the valley in a single unbroken panorama, the horizon stretching from olive grove to distant mountain ridge. A narrow infinity pool runs flush with the lower terrace, its water edge coinciding with the fall of the land so precisely that pool and valley appear continuous. The material palette is absolute in its restraint: local grey granite, clear glass, and raw concrete.
03
Key Features
Grey granite construction matched to natural site rock — Terraced volumes stepping organically down the slope — Panoramic valley and mountain views from all main spaces — Flush-edge infinity pool merging with the landscape — Cantilevered terrace over natural rock formation — Raw concrete and stone interiors with minimal detailing.
