Villa Palapa

01
Context
Villa Palapa is a tropical private residence organized around a central courtyard and pool — an introverted architecture that turns its back on the world and opens entirely to the sky. The house reads from the exterior as a series of terracotta-tiled pavilions rising through the tree canopy, their rooflines echoing the organic irregularity of the jungle that presses against every wall.
02
Visual Direction
Within, the courtyard is a world of its own: a generous pool lined by polished stone, shaded verandas hung with plants, and the particular silence of a garden enclosed on all sides. The pavilions that surround it — living, dining, sleeping — are defined by their openness, each space flowing directly into the courtyard through wide covered thresholds. The inside is never quite inside. The outside is never quite outside.
