Arena Peñasco

Arena Peñasco is a coastal sports and events stadium conceived as a steel ellipse set dramatically on a rocky clifftop above the ocean. The building's metallic shell — weathered, textured, monolithic — echoes the geological character of the coast while asserting a bold civic presence visible from miles away. It is at once a piece of infrastructure and a piece of landscape.

The interior opens upward in a perfect ellipse, flooding the pitch with natural light and giving spectators an overhead frame of sky. Around the perimeter, public walkways allow visitors to circumnavigate the building and experience its relationship with the sea from every angle. At dusk, the metallic skin catches the last light of the sun, turning the stadium into a lantern above the cliffs.
